“People have always been good at imagining the end of the world, which is much easier to picture than the strange sidelong paths of change in a world without end.”
— Rebecca Solnit, from “The Millennium Arrives: November 9, 1989″ in Hope in the Dark (Nation Books, 2004)
on my last rewatch of true detective when I was showing it to my boyfriend I had such an intense reaction to rusts’ accusation of marty (“because you have a debt”) because it reminded me of an investigative thing id worked on on and off for the whole year I interned for victorville’s paper that fell through completely when I had to leave for ucla. I know I couldn’t really have done anything to reverse the terrible shit that happened to the people involved but it did remind me that I have to go back to journalism. or risk disappointing the baddest little waif on tv
good morning to kings with a legendary sword, very mean senechals, murderers who were raised in a lake, girls who cuck their husband with his nephew, girls who love murder, kitchen boys with beautiful hands, very nice mass murderers, cool foxes, girls who kidnap sleepy knights, boys who are a bit too much into catholicism, queens who love intrigue, lion enthusiasts, boys who suffer from younger brother syndrome, milf lovers, boys who go feral in the woods to cope, milfs, boys who switch sides in a war for gay reasons, sorceresses who cause problems on purpose and horses who practice dentistry.
